Boeing Expands Test Capability for GMD Missile Defense System

VANDENBERG AIR FORCE BASE, Calif., Aug. 18, 2009 -- The Boeing Company [NYSE: BA], working with industry teammates and the U.S. Missile Defense Agency, has completed construction of a second interceptor test silo for the Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) system at Vandenberg Air Force Base. In this photo, Boeing's GMD team installs the silo at the base. This new silo can be configured to support testing or tactical operations.
