SEATTLE, April 18, 2011 – Boeing [NYSE: BA] has achieved multiple qualifications for its world-wide network of 787 training campuses. The qualifications mean Boeing Flight Services has training devices that are ready to be used with an approved training course in locations around the globe.
The innovative Boeing 787 training course replicates the airplane using a suite of training devices consisting of desktop simulation systems, flight training devices and full-flight simulators.
The 787 flight training device (FTD) shown here is located at the Boeing Flight Services Seattle training campus. It provides flight crews with the same flight management and control systems as the full-flight simulator, making it ideal for instrument familiarization and reinforcing knowledge of airplane systems. The flight training device develops proficiency in normal procedures as well as simple non-normal procedures, the flight management system, auto-flight operations, and display operations. It also includes electronic flight bags and head-up displays, and enables flight crews to become familiar with complex non-normal procedures.
There are eight 787 training suites at five Boeing campuses -- Seattle, Tokyo, Singapore, Shanghai and London Gatwick.
