Boeing Recognized by US Army for New Jersey Modification Center Work

HUNTSVILLE, Ala., Feb. 10, 2011 -- Boeing [NYSE: BA] today announced that the company’s Millville, N.J., Aircraft Modification Center team and its site manager, Seb Arrigo, have received the Joseph P. Cribbins Aviation Product Symposium Project Manager/Center Award from the U.S. Army Cargo Helicopter Project Office. The award recognizes the team for playing a critical role in the success of Army aviation by modifying 31 CH-47F Chinook helicopters in 2010, enabling new equipment training for three combat aviation brigades.

Arrigo accepted the Army award on Feb. 9 at the product symposium in Huntsville.

“It’s the results that make the difference to our program and ultimately to the warfighters we serve,” said Col. Bob Marion, U.S. Army Cargo Helicopters program manager. “The Boeing team’s results in Millville have been fantastic.”

The Millville team performs specialized modifications to the CH-47F Chinook before the aircraft are deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan. The team consists of Defense & Government Services (D&GS) and Rotorcraft Support employees from Boeing Defense, Space & Security’s Global Services & Support division.

“We are extremely honored by this award and the opportunity we have to support the U.S. Army,” said Arrigo. “This team’s dedication and innovation are helping warfighters accomplish their missions and come home safely.”

“When you assess what’s behind a successful operation, it usually comes down to people,” said Greg Deiter, vice president for Boeing Defense & Government Services. “At Millville, we have great leadership and a work force that is dedicated to exceeding expectations in support of our customer.”

Boeing in late 2009 received the Army contract to modify more than 30 Chinooks in 2010 and an additional 148 over the following three years. According to the Army customer, D&GS’ competitive rate structure was a key factor in awarding the business to Boeing.
