Boeing Names Crowder to Lead Operations of Subsidiary Kestrel Enterprises

ARLINGTON, Va., Nov. 3, 2010 -- The Boeing Company [NYSE: BA] today announced the appointment of retired U.S. Navy Vice Adm. Doug Crowder to chief operating officer of Kestrel Enterprises Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary.

"This appointment broadens Boeing’s experience and leadership to address an important national-security customer base," said Dewey Houck, director of Mission Systems for Boeing Intelligence & Security Systems. "Doug’s experience will allow us to enhance the decision-making and analysis capabilities and support we currently provide to better position Kestrel for growth. I look forward to his contribution to the Boeing team."

Crowder will assume responsibility for the more than 300 Kestrel professionals who provide products and services to more than 16,000 worldwide users of the Kestrel TAC software application. Kestrel TAC provides real-time, collaborative analysis and decision-making through the continuous questioning of all incoming information. It is used throughout the Defense Department, Intelligence Community and the broader national security community, as well as by several other U.S. government agencies.

Crowder previously served as Commander, U.S. Seventh Fleet and Deputy Chief of Naval Operations for Operations, Plans and Strategy. As commander, he was responsible for all U.S. Navy forces throughout the Western Pacific and Indian Ocean areas, maintaining readiness for missions that included both humanitarian relief efforts and warfighting. He also spearheaded strategy efforts while serving as a senior Navy representative to the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the other services.
