Statement: Messier-Bugatti Performing Well on Boeing 787 Dreamliner

SEATTLE, May 21, 2008 -- Boeing Communications erroneously told a Seattle-based reporter earlier this week that Messier-Bugatti, a French company and one of two partners providing electric brakes for the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, was experiencing difficulty meeting its production commitments. This is not true. Messier-Bugatti is performing well. The challenge noted on May 19 by 787 Vice President and General Manager Pat Shanahan referred to the brake control monitoring system, which is produced by a subtier supplier to General Electric. Neither Messier-Bugatti nor Goodrich, the other brake supplier, is involved in any aspect of the brake control monitoring system. We regret the error.
