First Korean Air 747-400 Extended Range Freighter Takes Flight

The first Boeing 747-400ER (Extended Range) Freighter to be delivered to Korean Air Lines takes off from Paine Field in Everett, Wash., for a test flight. The new airplane is the first of three to be delivered to the cargo division of the airline. The 747-400ER Freighter, the latest version of the 747 freighter family, provides the lowest operating cost and improves on what is already the most capable cargo transport in the industry.

Korean Air Cargo is one of the top freight carriers in the world in terms of freight-tonne-kilometers and was named Cargo Airline of the Year for 2003 by Air Transport World earlier this year.
