Boeing to Ship NASA's Tracking and Data Relay Satellite to Florida for March Launch

BOEING DELIVERS - A Boeing-built Tracking and Data Relay Satellite (TDRS) is being delivered on Jan. 30, 2002 to Kennedy Space Center, Fla., to receive final check out for a March launch. The Boeing 601 satellite, named TDRS-I, is the second of three satellites built and delivered by Boeing Space and Communications for NASA Goddard Space Flight Center of Greenbelt, Md. The TDRS satellites relay large volumes of user satellite data - including voice, television and scientific - from manned missions or orbiting scientific spacecraft back to ground control centers.
