China Airlines Becomes First Boeing 747-400F Operator in Taiwan

China Airlines of Taiwan accepted its first two Boeing 747-400 Freighters during a delivery ceremony at the Everett, Wash., airplane production facility. Brian Chou, senior vice president -- China Airlines, and Larry Dickenson, senior vice president -- Boeing Commercial Airplanes Group, presided over a ceremony that featured traditional dragon dancers and drummers and was attended by approximately 100 invited guests. The new freighters are the first of 13 to be delivered to China Airlines and the first to be delivered to a Taiwanese carrier. The 1999 order was the largest 747-400 Freighter order in Boeing history. China Airlines also holds options to purchase four additional 747-400 Freighters.
