Boeing Earns Quality Certification for Mesa Plant

The Mesa, Ariz., helicopter facility of The Boeing Company will be officially certified Oct. 3 as an ISO 9001-compliant manufacturer.

ISO 9001 certification is a standard of manufacturing quality recognized around the world and means the company has a process in place to assess and continually improve the way it works in areas ranging from design and assembly to test and production.

The company will receive its certification from National Quality Assurance, an independent, third-party auditor that evaluated Boeing and more than 8,000 other companies worldwide.

"This certification reinforces our long-standing commitment to building top-quality products, and is important for us to remain competitive in an increasingly global marketplace," said Dean Borgman, senior vice president of Boeing in Mesa.

The Boeing Company in Mesa employs more than 5,000 highly skilled workers. It is one of the world's leading producers of commercial and military rotorcraft and ordnance systems, offering a wide range of versatile, turbine-powered helicopters and highly reliable medium-caliber cannons for customers around the globe.

Notable products include the AH-64D Apache Longbow, the MD 500 and MD 600 Series of commercial light helicopters, the MD Explorer helicopter, and the 25mm M242 Bushmaster automatic cannon.
